Pacific Design Technologies (PDT) engineers, designs, and manufactures Accumulators for the space, aerospace, and defense industries. These systems use specialized fluids such as:
- PAO (Polyalphaolefin)
- EGW (Ethylene Glycol and Water)
- PGW (Propylene Glycol and Water)
- Freon
- Jet Fuels
- Hydraulic Oils
- Liquid CO2
- Ammonia
- Refrigerants
- Deionized Water
- Coolanol 25R
Accumulators are required in closed-loop systems for two reasons: allow for the expansion/contraction that the fluid experiences over its full temperature extremes, and to provide adequate pressure to the pump inlet to avoid cavitation. The two main types of Accumulators engineered by PDT are edge-welded bellows type and piston type (the edge-welded bellows being more reliable).
Accumulator design involves a thorough understanding of fluid properties over a wide temperature range, (customer and PDT) system pressure requirements, sealing, and long term affects of accumulator types.
PDT Accumulators are designed and manufactured for two broad categories:
Distributed Systems:
Accumulators designed as component sets for integration by the customer. Components and sub assemblies may include: Compressor, Valves, Switches, Filters, Indicators, Electrical components and other devices.
Integrated Systems:
Identical to a 'Distributed Systems' but manufactured as fully integrated assemblies ready for installation.
